Summer in Pittsburgh with Attollo: Exploring the Steel City
Day 1: First Look at Pittsburgh
(July 19, 2025) — Our road trip began with a scenic drive to Pittsburgh, where we kicked things off at Chatham University. Scholars took a tour and joined an info session to get familiar with the campus tucked into the city. From there, we headed to Carnegie Mellon University, where students got a sense of the academic excellence CMU is known for and made time for a stop at the bookstore.

After a full day of college tours, we made our way to PNC Park to catch a Pirates vs. Tigers game and the Pirates won! The night ended with fireworks over the city skyline. It was the perfect way to end the day in the heart of Pittsburgh.
Day 2: Duquesne, Pitt, and PD
We started the day with a visit to Duquesne University, where scholars were impressed by the campus in the city and a student panel that featured an attollo alum sharing insights about college life and post-grad transitions.
Next up: University of Pittsburgh where we were welcomed with a full campus tour and even gifted merch from the admissions team.
Professional Development Dinner
That evening, scholars suited up for one of the most impactful parts of the trip: our Professional Development Dinner, We had the rare chance to tour the Moonshot Museum. The exclusive visit gave scholars a behind-the-scenes look at a working space tech facility. Here, we held our dinner featuring 21 guests! The night was all about building connections and stepping confidently into new professional spaces. Many students created or updated their LinkedIns on the spot.
Day 3: A Final Stop at Penn State
On our way home, we made a final stop at Penn State University, where the campus and mountain views created a stunning backdrop for our last tour. Scholars took one last chance to reflect, ask questions, and take in the beauty of a big public university.
This trip offered Attollo scholars a wide-angle view of college life and a reminder that the journey to higher education can be just as exciting as the destination!
